Title: The Cellar
Author: Natasha Preston
My stomach dropped as a tall, dark-haired man stepped into view. Had he been hiding between the trees?
"No. Sorry." Gulping, I took a step back. "I'm not Lily."
He shook his head, a satisfied grin on his face. "No. You are Lily."
"I'm Summer. You have the wrong person." You utter freak!
I could hear my pulse crashing in my ears. How stupid to give him my real name. He continued to stare at me, smiling, it made me feel sick.
"You are Lily." he repeated
Before I could blink, he threw his arms forward and grabbed me. I tried to shout, but he clasped his hand over my mouth, muffling my screams. My heart raced. I'm going to die.
For months Summer is trapped in a cellar with the man who took her―and three other girls: Rose, Poppy, and Violet. His perfect flowers. His family. But flowers can't survive long cut off from the sun, and time is running out...
From the moment Summer was taken I was hooked. I couldn't put it down. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I remember my husband and kids trying talk to me and I was so engrossed I never even heard them speaking.
This book is so well written, so descriptive of the characters and their surroundings that I felt like I was there. I felt Summer's fear, anger, sadness, depression, disgust and determination.
I was not familiar with Natasha Preston's work. I actually came across it from my daughter one night when I was looking for something different to read. I read mostly YA fantasy but I do occasionally like a thriller or murder mystery. I decided to give this Author a try and boy am I glad I did. I loved this book so much I went out and bought her next book "AWAKE"...Stay turned for that review.
